We received 920 responses to the survey about the best striping options for East Cliff Parkway. The current paint is worn off and the survey asked if it should be repainted as is or if a different arrangement for bikes, pedestrians, and cars should be tried. All the configurations considered are included at the bottom of this email for your reference.
The survey was first shared via email to approximately 2,400 residents who live near East Cliff. It was then shared to a wider email audience of approximately 16,000 addresses. It was also shared on social media and further distributed by groups such as Bike Santa Cruz County. The results stayed consistent even as more and more people took the survey, suggesting that the results are fairly representative.
There was a strong preference for the two options that completely separate bikes and pedestrians. Options D and E received 58.6% of the votes. Of these, Option E had 38.6% of the votes, almost twice as many as any other option.
