California State Parks is treating Wilder Ranch State Park with prescribed burns this week. The 150-acre Long Meadow Prescribed Fire will begin either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on weather and air quality conditions.

This burn will continue for approximately 7-8 days as long as there is predicted weather that will facilitate smoke dispersal. If weather or vegetation conditions are not conducive for burning and smoke dispersal, the department will reschedule the treatment.

The Eucalyptus Loop Rx fire that began October 11 still has minimal smoke observed from within the drainages and is being actively monitored by firefighters. So far, 186 acres of grass has burned along with 115 acres of forest.

Granite Creek Road (PM 2.10) in Santa Cruz will be opened to one lane. This single lane will be in effect 24/7 until the end of November, impacting all travelers who rely on this route. As a result of this lane reduction, motorists should be prepared for potential delays in their daily commute.

The primary reason for this lane restriction is the much-needed culvert repair work. The repair work aims to ensure the safety and reliability of Granite Creek Road.
